Paperless Material Delivery with LED-Guided Search

Digital Labeling

Paperless Shopfloor

At Siemens Healthineers in Erlangen, the material supply process was completely digitized — with ekko ePaper, LED management and automatic order marriage. The result: faster material search, paperless process and significant simplification of work.

1 Starting position

At the material station in Erlangen, production material has so far been provided and searched for analogously. Especially with changing staff — such as temporary workers — a lack of transparency and manual searches regularly led to delays and errors. The aim was a digital, intuitive and error-free material flow.

2 Approach

Following a process survey on site, a digital concept with ePaper and LED function was developed. The system was seamlessly integrated into existing processes: from the first scan to order linking to visual material management via LED. The project was introduced step by step and refined together with users.

3 Implementation & Outcome

Material is fitted with ePaper labels at the material station. Two scans connect the job to the label. If the material is needed later, a scan of the order number is sufficient — and all relevant ePapers light up. Employees find the material immediately, without any paper or a long search.
